North Star fishing and hunting trips differ from our other trips in just a couple areas. The focus on fishing or hunting is primary, and our daily schedule revolves around that focus. Our fishing/hunting charter guests are guaranteed lower guest to guide ratio (2-3 guests per guide/boat). Our prices reflect these specific services, as well as the specialized instruction and knowledge of our fishing guides. High customer service, great food, quality gear, and the amazing back drop of Hells Canyon are all part of the experience.
Meet for this trip in McCall, Idaho. A shuttle takes you to the put-in on the Snake River at Hells Canyon Dam. We float north 32 miles to the take-out at Pittsburg Landing. Shuttle returns you to McCall after the trip. You will need to be in McCall the night before the trip’s launch date.
You will need to purchase a temporary Idaho or Oregon fishing or hunting license prior to the trip. You can do so when you arrive in Idaho or you can purchase it ahead of time online. The Snake River in Hells Canyon is the state line between Idaho and Oregon. You can fish with either state’s license on the river while in a boat, but you can fish standing on the bank in Idaho or Oregon with only that State’s license. We recommend that you buy a license in one State, but you are welcome to buy a temporary license for both states if you prefer Idaho Fish & Game
July and August through Sept 6th our launch dates remain the same each year as designated by our permit with the USDA Forest Service. From Sept 11th through October our launch dates are flexible. After Sept 11th we can move the dates around to better fit your groups’ schedule. We will offer 10% group discount for group of 8 or more. Please ask about charter trips.
